This piece was presented in the Realia show, which went really smoothly and successful in terms of the participating crowd. The piece was also critiqued for my final in conceptual practices. If I'm going to continue to work with sound coming from unexpected talking objects, researching good speaker material is necessary.

download audio here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?vzlzqdz3zmp

The audio was created from a few selected excerpts from some separate recordings, all done on improvising with some kind of present feeling, confusion, or tries to build up a voice for characters. Then the dialog sort of came to be from copulated short poems I've written during work. I thought about conversation, especially with myself, and she came to be. Her not wanting to be apart of any it, " I want to roll, roll, roll". This movement to leave seemed so continuous a cycle in many conversations. She is becoming almost this second voice in me, creepy but I like her vibrating small squeak, she is a weak mouse. The man is forceful, "this is what you have to listen to now...", he speaks about some pleasure that makes really no sense then asks "did you hear every word i said... do you see the seat right next to you we have to switch now, i'm going to sit there..." I'm not sure where my man characters lead to, but he is very dull and boring and repeats but so does she, maybe they are meant together. "I'm still sitting in the same spot, I wanna roll..."

sit next to ____.

relation of its object to the chain of its discourse

"Truth is. When it comes down to extreme in proposing an idea into the art world, she keeps an ambiguous relationship with minimalism and popular style. She is more than interesting and dedicated, her pieces are more than being a architect or a interior designer, she is plain Extremist by using herself to explore these set up lifesyles in her space-usage works, everyday in and out. Her work evokes the concerns with the relationship between usage of space with uncontrolled needs. Her ideas, find ways to make a small space efficient to live in, with new eco-friendly lifestyles and minimized storage units that have multiple functions. With using herself, as part of her efficient friendly home units, the concerns of comfort are what provoke more of the investigation her work continues to function as. The work began with animal modules functioning as living spaces, where they would have everything needed in a unit, then she came to the conclusion that why couldn't humans also live in spaces that have everything needed with not discomfort cramp feelings. Her own living space became part of the birth of her body of work, making her tiny new york apartment comfortable with less storage, but still have everything a person really needs to live. Basically this piece is my process of understanding the topic (where do you get information?). The way I set up the visual of my understanding, was to present my experience for the audience to reenact.So then their experience becomes their own real life understanding, in a condensed version.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98uwJFME1I/AAAAAAAAAEA/Vy2ZimJmWtI/s320/P1010215.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178909501105640274" />

I have part of my conversation with a friend, mentioning our search to know an answer for this vague question. The letters are elongated, and the space in between is condensed, keeping everything very close, making it difficult to read. Next to the sheets is instructions, for the use of the conversation and the recorder.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98uwZFME2I/AAAAAAAAAEI/zJwAAxOxNV0/s320/P1010219.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178909505400607586" />

Once the recording is done, the viewers rewind and listen, which makes the experience different from walking by the installation, stopping to read the conversation alone in the head, and maybe choosing to record it, but now they listen back to the reading.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98uw5FME3I/AAAAAAAAAEQ/D1zIhfCG_IU/s320/P1010217.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178909513990542194" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98uxZFME4I/AAAAAAAAAEY/PuGajbmMXxY/s320/P1010212.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178909522580476802" />

Part of our experience, interaction with obtaining any form of information is very vague, because it basically is everything. I thought, it would be interesting to take a piece of communication networks (conversations with each other, exchanging words), and having the viewer experience that on their own, with my experience.

Even though this installation puts the audience with the choice to encounter the piece, read it, follow the instructions, or walk away. Which I think is interesting, because the choice of each individual is how they independently or dependently choose their information as well.

the audio will be up soon.

look alike

I
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98hJ5FMEzI/AAAAAAAAADw/RQVVBsRilVw/s320/Photo+347.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178894550324482866" />
look like Bebe?
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R98hKJFME0I/AAAAAAAAAD4/W5T4K8BtmpQ/s320/bebe.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178894554619450178" />

haha sorta, maybe, do you think so? Then my interest came back to the duality of parents poorly educating youth about sex but allowing exposure on any form of communication networks with very sexual songs, imagery and easy access on the internet. It was interesting when a friend had mentioned, that it is "YOU", that decides what goes out in advisement and what decides what we like and so forth. I'm not sure if everyone really realizes that we are given this power to decide what goes out and in. But then, a group of men some how decide what we like as well.

Before this goes off subject, I then found it very interesting that people have the will, and most often everything is chosen through what has already become comfort, and the uncomfortable that was presented to us should be the reverse. Example, in my project I took a 70's parent to child sex education video, playing muted and projected onto the background of my set up. The set up was a table covered with a table cloth, with a child's doll and some books on-top and a tape recorder for documentation purposes. The two chairs across from each other, one with me sitting in it acting like a 7 year old, while the other was is the mother ( a girl picked out in my class). She had no idea, that my intention of picking her, was because of what I observed from her conservative quietness in class. Since I was playing this sex education video in the background, of a mother and child comfortable talking about the vagina hole and how a baby is made with hand motions, while in front the comfortable is actually what everyone thinks is uncomfortable preformed unscripted.

Once, I started acting like a child asking questions about babies coming out, and where they come from; she answered in a very conservative manner, or vague, leaving the question unanswered. Once, I felt she was uncomfortable, I stopped the recorder and told her she had the choice to allow me to keep the only documentation of the performance, or she could earse it. I gave her the will, the control of my art, just like the population would have on my piece, but I just picked one to decide for the rest. She allowed me, and then I played the tape back to the class, letting the remembrance recollect, as a listening stage, and not so distracting watching the performance.

The tape recorder is left on the table with the remains of the performance, allowing anyone who didn't get to see the performance, were able to listen and see the residue.

I think what was most successful with the project was, being able to show the duality of how media portrays these comfortable situations with sex, and the viewer being comfortable along that, while real life sitautions as a parent to child sex talk is uncomfortable. Having both play at the same time, really helped make the effect of media on our choices of comfortable and uncomfortable noticealbe, as I got to use the tools of media (speech, acting, video, projector...etc) to help present it. Then the topping was the recorder, anyone could pass it and say this isn't art, I'm not going to play that recorder, and who knows why this is here, but if the spectator willing decides to give the reorder the try they just experienced the comfortable and uncomfortable situation, only by interacting with my piece, and then listen to how i did it in performance.

And when I mean by uncomfortable, its not by the means, 'ewww thats gross, or i can't stand that... this and that', but what people like or dislike to encounter, and that starts with comfort zones.

'pin me up' as a vaule

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R6jNP4kvgwI/AAAAAAAAABY/CtoUC036oFg/s320/pinmeup007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163602645548499714" />

Here is the 3 of 4 etching print of "pin me up". This is no longer the original, after Neven had disrespectfully found my art to be a piece of scrap paper for testing a questionable ink pen to write a check. He probably didn't even think about how it was stance on the counter away from everything else, for this to not happen. (I mention his name, only because he should get credit for the addition he added to my piece, by sort of saying "fuck this art, I'm going to ruin it anyways". But, did he really ruin it, and should it even matter for me to keep a piece in a confined space for a gift of presentation purposes later?

After talking to a friend about the value of our art, and the marketing aspect of it; she really got me thinking about how I share my art to others (i'm being specific on selling). I don't sell actually! I've always had this horrible attachment to giving, because, what I've produced so far hasn't been executed the way I'd actually like.

So,to not have really any attachment to my work, means, that my first reaction was there because of value issues, 'my teacher won't look at it now, because Neven ruined it', but really this process should continue. The piece now only has a marking from him, showing his character of not thinking emotionally towards the art piece as I would have.

So, in order to put it back to his face, I gave it to Cesca, to add another addition to the piece. Even, though I gave her the unlimited will to do whatever to the piece, she added her own character. A sweet, gentle friend, making her marking look as it were part of the original, the skulls as balloons was her addition.

Interesting.

Brain Aneurysm

Today during class, I wanted to write with both hands. The first tries were just random sentences, then I really wanted to multi task my brain to write two of the same meaning words by writing them at the same time with both hands. So I wrote three and third and the same time, and my brain sent a signal to my hand, giving me cramps, but I kept going. After i came to the seconded line to try two completely different words 'keep' right hand, 'take' left hand; I got very frustrated and closed my eyes to complete the overwhelming task. The image 'take' didn't really come out but 'keep' was more visual.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R6ODs4kvgvI/AAAAAAAAABQ/zcdMxBEERYA/s320/message2me42003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162114405020697330" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R6ODjYkvguI/AAAAAAAAABI/tC0dt1Cjud0/s320/i+am+threethird001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162114241811940066" />

The overwhelming feeling was a self inflicted confusion feeling. Very indescribable. I really don't suggest that you try it, unless you're ready for a headache, and a dizzy feeling that last about 15 to 20 mins.

I wrote some things down during the feeling.
" How did you feel?
my heart still beating too fast, my arm sends a pain, but I feel like my brain is actually telling me. I know that some of them ended up reading vertical, and I'm very uncomfortable that the drawings are in this composition. At least I'm aware of this speck of dust, I guess how the image reads compositional isn't something that I'm worrying about, since that seems so commercial and tasteful to who? Why does something in a sketch book have to become a visual piece of pie for everyone or you, it doesn't, we just assume that it has to be! Let's not make art dead tonight.

"it has to be human to feel like this way also"

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R56rxIkvgrI/AAAAAAAAAAw/yZPd1Ohf4MY/s320/sketchbk1031.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160751083616699058" />

"for the first time, we'll wrap around the empty image stained under his sheets into her mail box for a keepers memory."

this drawing is supposed to show the demand many couples, fake lovers, and sort of wanna be sad songs kind of people...etc, to echo the memory of encountering each other sexual for the first time. Also known as touched by the a virgin for the very first time. Well what a small particle way of letting that out. Yet again, this is only text, a visual image, and those words came from someone else's song.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R56tBYkvgsI/AAAAAAAAAA4/PniutnVdGjA/s320/forthefirst029.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160752462301201090" />

Also for art history, my teacher was boring enough to get me to drool looking awake. I bet that was a site for the girls sitting on my opposite sides. But when she asked us to draw a self portrait with out looking at ourselves, I closed my eyes and thought of the drawing Jenny did of hers and pictured myself peeling boredom from my hands and then after that, she then asked to draw a future portrait of when we get older. My older version is me being crazy and happy about it, as well drawn with eyes closed blind contour. They are comical, it was a loose feeling to guess the shape of my face features and feel them draw on the paper without seeing. Enjoyable.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R56uTIkvgtI/AAAAAAAAABA/1jxB294aKMM/s320/sketchbk1033.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160753866755506898" />

Sweet Smoky Milk

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exhG3FJmq2g/R5onpYkvgpI/AAAAAAAAAAg/yCzaccL0cfE/s320/sweetsmokeymilk031.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159479915031003794" />

My lovely friend Owen Harris, had asked me to do his album art for his first album coming out. Not, that I mind erotic imagery, and boobs to penis drawings or photographs, it's just my ideal past (used to be recent) sheltered lifestyle, never allowed sexual talk to be normal. Is it normal though that anything having to do with desires, and lust, and extreme needs? I'm not sure, dealing with a sex driven culture, feed with every communication device we use, has me do drawings, that odd and uncomfortable, or simply vulgar.

I'm trying to use my discomfort with the extreme sex-desires that my youthful surroundings expose, and combine it with my obsession of our dependence's with our hands. They allow us to do much, and yes I know, its a duh statement. I'm trying to think, and its hard since I'm caving into read a book, rather than drawing something. So I'm leading in this direction for now.

Intent to share

I'm basically starting this blogspot, with the intent to be more sharing of my artwork and attached thoughts. It's such a privleage to beable to share through a speechless, untouchable, cummicating network. This blog takes away all interactions with each other and leaving it with only imagery. Isn't that what text is, just an image for visual understanding, all this, is me writing some encountered thoughts. What a prize my brain has to have this key rthymic types on my computer avaliable for my fingers to record censored sarah valdez thoughts. Dosen't it suck to know that my thoughts are censored, by me, for you're safety and my embrasesment? Maybe it's not you're safety, maybe its nothing, because everything really is nothing that came from everything! And that has no origin, or defintion, because right now I'm a creator, and its painful, because everything I grew up to know, love, hate, accept, touch, taste, see... etc, is shifting, changing, and recollecting, to gather up and become something past in my memory and your's. I feel like calling myself an artist right now, would be false, since my goal is to get there, but now I'm a creator of thoughts to hopefuly seam with 'art', for the needs and wants, but hopefully the intrested experiencing to hate or love my artwork.
