Close Instance Between Persons

Two chairs and a small wooden object with sound. This piece was presented in the Realia show, which went really smoothly and successful in terms of the participating crowd. The piece was also critiqued for my final in conceptual practices. If I'm going to continue to work with sound coming from unexpected talking objects, researching good speaker material is necessary.

The audio was created from a few selected excerpts from some separate recordings, all done on improvising with some kind of present feeling, confusion, or tries to build up a voice for characters. Then the dialog sort of came to be from copulated short poems I've written during work. I thought about conversation, especially with myself, and she came to be. Her not wanting to be apart of any it, " I want to roll, roll, roll". This movement to leave seemed so continuous a cycle in many conversations. She is becoming almost this second voice in me, creepy but I like her vibrating small squeak, she is a weak mouse. The man is forceful, "this is what you have to listen to now...", he speaks about some pleasure that makes really no sense then asks "did you hear every word i said... do you see the seat right next to you we have to switch now, i'm going to sit there..." I'm not sure where my man characters lead to, but he is very dull and boring and repeats but so does she, maybe they are meant together. "I'm still sitting in the same spot, I wanna roll..."

Cinema Sounds

Realia was a success, lots of good engery, good size crowd, hopefully this means we'll be able to do more events like this.
On another note, Roofless gave me an amazing chance to design a poster for its next event coming up this Friday. Cinema Sounds, six different bands picking a classic movie scene and improving in front of it. Free, FREE, BUT Limited tickets, lots of fun! Let me know what you think of the poster, and be there or don't be square!

Acceptance: 1A-3A/4A

These are stills from the video that documented a 1,2,and 3 parts out of 4 performance.
duration 39:59:18

The sheet is a secondary visual of the process the performance underwent. It lays out all the steps we did for each part 1A - 3A; 4A will be know after the 2 years of consuming induvidual strands of hair is completed. The idea for 4A, is finding out, what to do with the left over hair in 2 years.

Be expecting and learn something new.

Jenny and I,

ps:
If you don't know who Andrea Zittel is, look her up. When it comes down to extreme in proposing an idea into the art world, she keeps an ambiguous relationship with minimalism and popular style. She is more than interesting and dedicated, her pieces are more than being a architect or a interior designer, she is plain Extremist by using herself to explore these set up lifesyles in her space-usage works, everyday in and out. Her work evokes the concerns with the relationship between usage of space with uncontrolled needs. Her ideas, find ways to make a small space efficient to live in, with new eco-friendly lifestyles and minimized storage units that have multiple functions. With using herself, as part of her efficient friendly home units, the concerns of comfort are what provoke more of the investigation her work continues to function as. The work began with animal modules functioning as living spaces, where they would have everything needed in a unit, then she came to the conclusion that why couldn't humans also live in spaces that have everything needed with not discomfort cramp feelings. Her own living space became part of the birth of her body of work, making her tiny new york apartment comfortable with less storage, but still have everything a person really needs to live. It may be for you to decide wither this would be considered art work or not?

Eres El Conquistador

When Looking at how history influences the present, we feel obligated to pay homage for it bringing us to who we are today. During hte 15th and 16th century, the desire to know what was beyond Western Europe was finally embarked with the compass as a tool, navigating among the cardinal directions.
Eres El Conquistador consists of wooden shapes resembling 15th and 16th century ideals of what the continents were believed to look like at the time.
The pipes and audio within represent the idea of an era-bridging medium for carrying out these curiosity driven desires for exploration and ultimately conquest.

Collaboration with Josh for an installation class. Opening is April 5th at the South Florida Museum. Come and check it out, there is faculty work and more student work as well.

Grr Gar Violet Eyes

A few new experiment prints based off the last rice prints with tinfoil. These are reproduction images from the originals, varying in size reduction, which I'll show later and then reproduced with some control vs. loss of control when using image on, onto the copper plate.
